Crafts in the Valley is back again this season with an exciting selection of Festive Fused Glass Workshops. These workshops are suitable for beginners and offer a lovely creative experience in the lead up to Christmas. Mini crafters (aged 8+) are welcome to join the classes with a paying adult.

During these classes, you can choose to go with the Christmas theme, or create glasswork that is suitable for all year round. As with all Crafts in the Valley workshops, plenty of support is available if you need, whilst still offering guests the freedom to experiment with creative ideas.

Festive Fused Glass 2026.  It is the season to sparkle!

A Flock of Four Winter Birds: Half day 3 hour workshop – £65.

In the fused glass birds workshop you will make a collection of four hanging birds that can be used as Christmas decorations and given as gifts.  Many guests hang the birds around their home or garden all year round.  

In the studio you will have access to an exciting range of top quality materials and equipment; coloured frit powders, jewels, stringers, confetti, millefiori, sparkly glitter flakes, and stencils to create patterns and designs.  This class does not involve glass cutting, the birds are cut for you, so you just have to do the fun decorating part!

This workshop is ideal for those who fancy a fun creative experience where you will be introduced to the wonderful world of glass. 

What will I make? 

  • Four fused glass birds (10 cm x 7cm approx)
  • Optional – A fused glass robin pendant (£8) and/or robin earrings (£12)

What is included?

  • All glass materials for the birds and kiln firing.
  • Festive sweet treats, mulled wine, teas and real coffee.

I offer these workshops to individuals and private groups, they are designed for art and craft lovers, beginners or experienced crafters, and for those who simply want to enjoy a creative day out. The workshops have proved popular with mothers and daughters, couples, families and friends who wish to spend some quality creative time together. Lots of participants come on their own and enjoy meeting friendly, new people. 

The workshops are run from my light and airy studio on Thornber Business Park in the rural setting of Cragg Vale, Mytholmroyd, the neighbouring town to Hebden Bridge in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. The Calder Valley is a great place to visit or to stay for the weekend.  Hebden Bridge is a quirky town filled with independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. It is well known for its exciting art, craft and alternative music scene. It is also a great place if you enjoy nature, walking and exploring the countryside.
