50 Shades of Yellow

Fifty Shades of Yellow is a project born out of a love of nature, gardening, colour and wool.  I’m passionate about creating sustainable textiles and beautiful colours through the alchemy of plant dyes.  Working with nature and textiles is an ever-growing part of Crafts in the Valley.  I am committed to working creatively in a more sustainable way that resonates with nature and contributes positively to our planet.

I use only natural plant dye materials, no nasty chemicals, and work with ethically sourced British yarn, promoting sustainable textiles, the British wool industry, and the joys of growing dye flowers. The majority of the dye plants and flowers I use are grown by in my Dyers Garden at Red Acre Allotments, or are responsibly foraged.

My partner and I have created a mobile craft space, we are ready to tour to outdoor events and festivals with the Fifty Shades of Yellow project.  We can set up a calm, creative space at craft events and festivals …. Imagine a restyled army surplus camp crossed with a magical apothecary, decorated with yellow flowers and bunting, filled with wool and yarn to dye and buy!

Our mobile craft space is built off our Mercades Vario van. It has a large heavy-duty awning, with a matching army surplus 9 x 9 tent, canvas windbreaks and a fire area with a traditional trivet.  We will offer textile workshops and natural dyeing demonstrations from our space, using plants, flowers, food waste and British wool.
