Competition winners….

Congratulations to Kirstie Garside and Catherine Munn who won some beautiful dichroic jewellery by correctly answering the competition question “how many locks did the Crafty Snail travel through on the journey from Sheffield to Hebden Bridge“. The answer – 68! We covered 84miles in six days.

It was a wonderful journey, where I learned to navigate the boat on my own, without the guidance of my faithful Captain Rhys.  Two of my great friends, Lotta and Hils joined me as my skippers and helped us through the many locks.  Travelling on the canal network is an amazing experience.  You step back in time and travel peacefully at a snail’s pace through the hidden tree lined rivers and canals.  Even when you are close to town and cities, you feel like you are a million miles away from anywhere!  We even stumbled upon a boaty gathering, where we made some new friends, in a blue bell glen!  The only set backs we had was down to a few drunken sailors!

Competition Time!!!
Two years ago I moved the Crafty Snail studio from Sheffield to Hebden Bridge. It took six days to complete the journey and we went up and down a lot of locks. It was a fantastic journey and the craft boat chug, chugged its way happily to the quirky, creative town of Hebden Bridge.
So…..How many locks did we travel through?
