Description
Winter Lanterns – Frit and Stencils
Workshop dates: Saturday 15th November – 2pm – 5pm
In the Winter Lanterns workshop you will experiment with a range of materials and techniques to decorate four glass panels. You can choose to make a lantern which is Christmassy, or one that is suitable to decorate your home or garden all year round.
For examples of lanterns that aren’t Christmas themes go to my Fused Glass Lantern Page
The panels can be decorated using coloured glass frit powders and a choice of stencils. A large range of stencils are available for you to choose from. In the studio you will have access to an exciting range of top quality materials and equipment; coloured frit powder, jewels, stringers, glass pebbles, stencils and much more! Once decorated the glass panels will be fired in a kiln and fitted back into your lantern. The lanterns look lovely lit up with candles or LED fairy lights. Your finished lantern will be available to collect 1-2 weeks later.
This workshop is ideal for those who fancy a relaxing creative experience where you will be introduced to the wonderful world of fused glass. I offer these workshops to individuals and private groups. They are enjoyed by art and craft lovers, beginners and more experienced crafters. Many guests come to experience new art and craft forms, or to simply enjoy a creative day out.
Crafts in the Valley workshops have proved popular with mothers and daughters, couples, families and friends who wish to spend some quality creative time together. Lots of participants come on their own and enjoy meeting nice, friendly people! I host hen dos, crafty parties, retirement parties and family and friend gatherings. Gift Vouchers are available for all workshops. The Winter Lantern (frit and stencils) workshop is very suitable for beginners and children aged 8+. Young people must be accompanied by an participating adult.
The workshops are run from the light and airy Crafts in the Valley studio in Cragg Vale, Mytholmroyd, the neighbouring town to Hebden Bridge in the Calder Valley. The Calder Valley is a great place to visit or make a weekend of it if you are travelling far. Hebden Bridge is a quirky town filled with independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, perfect for pre-Christmas treats and shopping! It is well known for its exciting art, craft and alternative music scene. It is also a great place if you enjoy nature, walking and exploring the countryside.
