This four week course is a fantastic opportunity to improve you knowledge and understanding of fused glass techniques.  The course is student led, so you can be as experimental as you like, or you can create a range of items suggested by Melanie the course tutor.

To gain the most from the four week course, it is advisable to do the full day Beginners Fused Glass workshop, or attend a two hour introduction prior to the evening course.  This will ensure you have a basic understanding of the materials and techniques so you can work with more confidence in the evening sessions.

The evening course allows students the freedom to make what they want, and to experiment with new and exciting ideas.  During the course you will have access to a range of materials and equipment (some of which are only shared with evening class students!).  The studio is equipped with top quality materials; frits, bubble power, jewels, stringers, glassline pens, stencils, moulds, bullseye and dichroic glass.

Previous students have created some stunning glasswork, and have returned to continue making and creating.  Within reason, anything is possible!  Bowls, coasters, waves, candle holders, lanterns, platters, glass pictures, bunting, wind chimes, slump vases, arches, splashback tiles, jewellery…..  The possiblilities are endless!  Beware though, fused glass is a highly addictive craft.

The evening course is run from the light and airy Creative Chameleon studio in Cragg Vale, Mytholmroyd, the neighbouring town to Hebden Bridge in the Calder Valley.

Depending on the size or nature of your project, some additional charges may be added.  Most weeks, students will make one main piece (bowl, arch, plate etc) plus some jewellery or a smaller item.  To discuss project ideas and the suitability of the course, please email Melanie at craftsinthevalley@gmail.com or phone 07779041237.
